Abbey Hotel Donegal Weddings

Congratulations to Martina O’Reilly and Raymond Virtue who where married on September 13th 2014 in St John The Baptist Church, Toura, Roscor, Belleek followed by a great reception with family and friends in The Abbey Hotel Donegal town. Myself and Sinead started our day off at Martina’s mum’s house in Roscor near Belleek where Martina and her bridesmaids Rosie and Aoife where getting ready. After we got the detail shots done it was time for Martina to start to get ready and just as she was about to get the dress off the hanger there was a visit from her neighbours. This was no ordinary visitor that I am used to seeing calling on the bride on her wedding day but a chicken -yes a chicken – from the neighbours yard – apparently he likes to drop by every day and have a mosey round the house and then have a go at the flowers in the garden before making his way home again! After a few shots with the hen we let Martina and the girls get busy getting the wedding dress on and after some shots in the sunshine in the garden we made the short trip up the road to St John the Baptist chapel for the wedding ceremony. On arrival we met Raymond and his groomsmen Karl and John who where busy handing out mass booklets and greeting the arriving guests. Following the ceremony we made our way to the back of the chapel to get some family photos. When the guests had all left to go to the reception we made our way with the bridal party to the beautiful location of Castle Caldwell Forest Park. The weather was perfect for our bridal portraits in Castle Caldwell as the sun was in and out from the clouds and the forestry was in its beautiful autumnal colours. From there we made our way to Donegal town for the reception in the Abbey hotel but before we got there we made a quick stop at Murvagh beach for a few photos with Martina and Raymond and mother nature played her part by giving us some amazing sun rays to help give our photos the wow factor. When we arrived at the Abbey hotel in Donegal town there was an artist hard at work doing great caricatures for the guests and the Ferrero Rocher where going down a treat with the guests young and old. During the speeches there was a surprise for Raymond as it was his birthday and even though he wanted to keep it hush his lovely new wife Martina had a cake brought out for him and the whole place sang him happy birthday at full volume. While the band where setting up we took the bridal party down to the end of the pier and got some sparkler shots and a few low key flash photos before making our way back to the Abbey hotel for the first dance. I would like to take this opportunity to wish Martina and Raymond the very best for their future together and thank them for inviting me to be part of their special day, below are some of the hi-lights from the wedding day…..enjoy.
