Spring Wedding Great Northern Hotel Bundoran Catherine + Declan
Spring Wedding Great Northern Hotel Bundoran
Congratulations to Catherine Nugent and Declan O’Regan who where married in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church in Bundoran Co. Donegal on Friday 6th March 2015 followed by a great reception in the Great Northern Hotel Bundoran for their family and friends. It was an early start for myself and Sinead on the morning of the wedding as we had to make a trip to Galbally in Dungannon in county Tyrone where Catherine and her bridesmaids Aideen, Chloe and Noelle where getting ready in Catherine’s home house. On arrival the girls where busy getting their hair done by Alan from The Parlour in Moy Co. Tyrone and makeup done by Stacey from S.A.K.DESIGNS and they where all relaxed and enjoying the craic of the build up. Also on duty with us was Conor Lunny from Lunny imaging in Enniskillen who was taking care of the videography for the day. After we got some getting ready and detail photos and shots of the beautiful wedding bouquets which where designed by Therese at Flowers At Designs By Therese, we got some beautiful images of Catherine who was a stunning bride and also her bridesmaids and parents.
The wedding ceremony was being held in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church in Bundoran and the priest in charge of the ceremony was Fr.O’Neill who had come all the way from Ruan in Co. Calre. Ruan is where Declan is from and Catherine has made it her home from home. It was great to see two great counties come together for the wedding and although Tyrone is no hurling stronghold and Clare no football stronghold they could all mix freely and know that in their chosen code each county was a major power. Declan and his groomsmen Kevin, Patrick and Martin where already on duty meeting and greeting the guests as we arrived at the church. Catherine arrived on time in a beautiful white stretch Limo from Exotic Limos and after a few quick photos outside it was straight in for the ceremony.
The weather was a mixed bag all day – it was dry but there was a real gale blowing and as Bundoran is on the coast it gets the full blast from the Atlantic storms. We made a decision to go to a wooded area I know just outside Kinlough for some of the bridal party photos as it would give us some shelter from the storm force winds. The woods where beautiful and the light was fantastic for our photos. As we where finishing up in the woods one of the groomsmen spotted a tractor whizz by on the country lane. He had noticed that the tractor had a piece of machinery on the front for carrying bales and it was made by Nugent Engineering. Catherine and her family own and run Nugent Engineering and so the chase was on to catch up with the tractor. The gentleman driving the tractor had no problem parking sideways across the road for Catherine and Declan to have a photo in front of the tractor- I had never noticed Nugent Engineering before that Friday but now I see it everywhere on machinery and trailers.
As I mentioned above the weather was poor with storm force winds. However Catherine had chosen Bundoran for her wedding as she spent a lot of time in her life there on holidays and had so many happy memories there. Catherine said that Bundoran to her meant the sea and she was determined to have some photos with the sea in the background. You really have to admire Catherine as there are not many who would have braved the top of Rougey on that stormy Friday afternoon and even fewer would have done it in a wedding dress! However Catherine and Declan made their way to the cliff top and we got some really stunning photos and the wind just adds to the drama and the feeling of movement in the images- I for one absolutely love them. We then made our way to the shelter, warmth and comfort of the stunning Great Northern Hotel for the wedding reception. Karen and her team where on hand with warm drinks to welcome us into the hotel and the place was looking stunning as usual with the center piece being the beautiful wedding cake made by Claire at Claires Cakes. During the dancing in the evening the “Straw Men” made an appearance to dance with the bride and groom and they really set the tone for the craic of the evenings entertainment. I would like to take this opportunity to wish Catherine and Decaln the very best of everything life has to offer and thank them for allowing me be part of their special day, below are some of the photos from their Spring Wedding Great Northern Hotel Bundoran enjoy…….
