Lusty Beg Island Wedding Catherine and Adam Norris
Congratulations to Catherine Britton and Adam Norris who where married in St Mary’s Church Pettigo on the 9th May 2015 followed by a great reception for their family and friends on the stunning Lusty Beg Island. The 9th of May was a beautiful day – the sun was out and there was at last some warmth from the sun and I was heading off to shoot my first Pettigo wedding. Pettigo has always been a special place for me as it is where my father P.J. hails from and a place where my uncle Sean still lives and the place where I spent every summer when I was growing up fishing on Bannus Lough, working in the bog, running mad through the fields, robbing Britton’s orchard (sorry!), knocking over my granddads haystacks and feasting on my Grannies home-made bread – aaah to have one more summer like that would be magical. On arrival at Catherine’s home just outside the village we set about capturing the last few touches of the hair and make-up which where in full swing. Catherine was very relaxed and was enjoying the craic with her bridesmaids Jenny, Ruth, Dionne and Sarah and also with her flower girls Lilly and Pheobe. Catherine’s mum Martina had two child of Prague statues out in the garden and thankfully both where working their magic. After we got some photos with the girls in their beautiful dresses myself and Sinead made our way to St Mary’s Church in Pettigo village for the wedding ceremony. On arrival we met up with Adam and his grooms-men Joe, James, Robert and Keiron and page boys Brody and Hugo who where all busy meeting and greeting the arriving guests. The priest on duty for the wedding ceremony was Fr. Frank Mc Manus who also married myself and Louise back in September 2007 in Ballyshannon. After the ceremony we made our way up the road to a garden that had the most amazing Cheery blossom trees, I really love the colour they brought to the photos and as they only bloom for a short period it would be easy to guess this was a spring wedding by looking at the photos. From there we made our way back to Catherine’s home where we had beautiful bluebells in the garden which also make for great spring wedding photos. This was also my first Lusty Beg Island Wedding and the trip out to the island on the car ferry was a smooth one and the island itself is just amazing and it really is a great place for a wedding reception. The guests enjoyed drinks on the patio area as we got the family and group photos done and then it was time for dinner followed by a great nights dancing with Tommy and the Big Jigs band providing the musical entertainment for the evening. After the craic that was had I cant wait for my next Lusty Beg Island Wedding later in the summer. I would like to take this opportunity to wish Catherine and Adam the very best for their future together and thank them for allowing me to be part of their amazing wedding day, below are some of the vendors who helped make the day so special for Adam and Catherine….
