Killyhevlin hotel wedding Lisa + Fergal
Killyhevlin hotel wedding
Congratulations to Lisa Herron and Fergal Mc Sharry on their Killyhevlin hotel wedding. Lisa and Fergal where married in Glenfin Chapel Co. Donegal on Thursday 25th June and then went on to Enniskillen in Co Fermanagh to have a brilliant Killyhevlin hotel wedding reception for their families and friends. The first time I met with Lisa and Fergal to chat about their wedding I got the impression that they were a great couple and a perfect match but also that the photography meant a lot to them and this always makes me excited as I know that nothing on the day will be in the way of getting great photos and my first impression was spot on. As has been the case throughout the Irish summer so far the weather was doing its best to put a damper on the day, it rained and then for good measure rained some more. However I really don’t thing anything that mother nature could have done on the day would have taken the smile off Lisa’s face. It was really great to see someone so happy about marrying the man she loved not let rain clouds drown out her inner sunshine. I met up with Lisa and her bridesmaids Emma, Sara, Mari, Katy and Anna at their family home in beautiful Glenfin. The girls were all busy in hair and make-up and there was a great buzz of excitement. On video duty for the day was Simon Gillispie from Gweedore and it is always a pleasure to work alongside a gentleman like Simon. Lisa had organised a horse and trap for the journey from her house to the Chapel and Jim Kee from Welchtown was the man in charge. As her journey began on the 3 mile trip it had just started to rain but with a brolly in hand Lisa and her dad set off for the wedding ceremony.
At the Church Fergal and his groomsmen Kevin, Christopher and Anthony were busy meeting and greeting the arriving guests and in the distance we could hear the beat of the horses hoofs on the tarmac signalling the imminent arrival of Lisa. After the ceremony the rain had passed by for a while and the guests could stand and chat and have a laugh with Lisa and Fergal. The journey from Glenfin to the Killyhevlin hotel wedding reception was going to take just over an hour and we had a few places along the way picked out for some wedding photos. Our first stop was outside Ballybofey on the shore of lough Mourne with the famous Barnesmore Gap in the background. As you can see from the photos below the twin peaks of the gap are not visible due to the clouds being so low and covering them but this really dramatic sky makes for some great wedding photos.
After our quick stop in the gap we made our way to Murvagh beach which lies between Donegal town and Ballintra. On our arrival the summer had totally disappeared and the rain was dancing across Donegal bay. Most couples would have said “thats it, ball burst, lets go” but not Lisa and Fergal – to their credit and desire that nothing was going to spoil or dampen their enjoyment of the day we broke out the brollies and got some amazing wedding photos on top of the sand dunes. Back in the cars with the heating on full blast we were dry again by the time we reached Enniskillen for the Killyhevlin hotel wedding reception. Lisa and Fergal had organised a grand entrance to the hotel by arriving with the bridal party on a luxury yacht. After some photos of them happily cursing up and down lough Erne they made their way into the hotel and joined their families and friends. The night-time entertainment was provided by Keltic Chaos and they never fail to deliver a great night of music and craic. I would like to take this opportunity to wish Lisa and Fergal the very best for their future together and thank them for allowing me be part of their special Killyhevlin hotel wedding.
