Miriam & John’s Wedding On Lusty Beg Island
Congratulations to Miriam Montgomery and John Kelly who held their wedding on Lusty Beg Island in Co. Fermanagh on the 1st of August 2015. The 1st of August was a beautiful day for a wedding on Lusty Beg Island and when myself and Sinead got on the ferry for the short crossing to the island the sun was shining and everything was quiet -until there was a mighty roar of car engines! As we got off the ferry the first thing we saw was a line of around 20 Mini’s zooming past heading down to the log cabins and every single one of them were gleaming and they were all obviously the pride and joy of their owners. Both Miriam and John have a deep fascination and love of the Mini car and both own their own and jointly owned cars – the wedding car itself was a very rare Mini Cooper with a flatbed back that John spent many many hours restoring from what im told was a very poor state of repair vehicle when he bought it. The girls were all busy with hair and makeup when we arrived and after some shots with them I went out and grabbed some photos of all the cars lined up. Miriam had spent a huge amount of time on all the details for the wedding and she hand made all the table centerpieces along with the decorations and even the flower girls little bouquets – it was well worth the time and effort as everything looked fantastic. The great thing about having a wedding on Lusty Beg Island is that you don’t have to go anywhere to get some great locations for photographs as everything you could want is right there in front of you. We made use of the beautiful area in front of the hotel that has wooden jetties that stretch out over Lough Erne and also the lovely forest walk to the back of the hotel and of course with so many pristine Mini Coopers flying about we were never going to be short of a background. The band for the evening was Power Struggle and they really know how to get the crowd up on the dancefloor and as the darkness fell on the Island and myself and Sinead made our way to the ferry the party was in full swing and the floor was full of guests busting their moves. I would like to take this opportunity to wish Miriam and John the very best for their future and thank them for allowing me capture their special day.
