Blue Haven Hotel Wedding Caroline and Barry

Blue Haven Hotel Wedding Caroline and Barry

Congratulations to Caroline and Barry who were married in a beautiful wedding ceremony in St Mary’s Church in Killybegs on the 19th of December 2015 followed by a brilliant wedding reception for their families and friends in the Blue Haven Hotel in Kilcar. I started my day off with a lovely scenic drive from Kinlough  across the airy mountains and down some rushy glens to the stunning Loughros point in Ardara in Co. Donegal where Caroline and her bridesmaids Janet, Aoife and Karen were getting ready for the big day ahead. When I arrived the girls were busy with the very talented makeup artist Kerry Harvey so I started off shooting some detail shots of Caroline’s beautiful wedding dress and all the accessories. The girls were all in high spirits and there was a steady stream of well wishes coming from the local radio station which was tuned into the radio in the sitting room. It was a very cold and windy morning with some heavy showers knocking about the point but the girls braved the wind and ventured outside for a few quick shots and video clips of the champagne being opened. After we got our photos with Caroline and her family we made our way to St Mary’s Church in Killybegs for the wedding ceremony. On our arrival we met up with Barry and his groomsmen Leon, Christy and Ryan who were all in great form meeting and greeting the arriving guests. St Mary’s Church in Killybegs is an absolute stunning Church to have a wedding in and it has hands down the best and shiniest floor you could wish for- it was brilliant to be able to make such a cool reflection shot using the aisle floor during the wedding ceremony. After the ceremony we got the family photos done and had some time to get a few bridal party photos in front of the church with Killybegs harbour in the background before making our way to our first location. Our first stop was on the Killybegs coast just below Roshine Hill. It was not the easiest spot to get to and myself and the groomsmen hopped into the back of a pickup truck for a spin down a bumpy track to the waters edge. It was a great bit of craic on the way down and the fact that we lost nobody overboard was a real bonus! The scenery was just amazing and I could have spent a day exploring all the different spots but as it was mid December I worked quickly to make sure we got what we needed before anyone got cold. Caroline was an unbelievable bride to work with as nothing was too much to ask and she made light work of the rough terrain in her wedding dress. After the fun journey back up the track in the flatbed we made our way to the top of Roshine Hill were the bridesmaids were waiting for us and as we arrived the sun was just beginning to set and it made for some gorgeous sunset photos with Caroline and Barry. When we had all the photos done we made our way to the Blue Haven Hotel for the wedding reception. The Blue Haven is a really beautiful location for a wedding with amazing views out across Donegal Bay to the Dartry mountains and Benbulben. The band for the evenings entertainment was the Goodfellows and they had the dancefloor filled from the minute they started playing. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Caroline and Barry for allowing me capture their beautiful wedding and I would like to wish them both the very best of everything for the future.
