Dorrians Hotel Ballyshannon Wedding Claire + Jimmy
Dorrians Hotel Ballyshannon Wedding
Congratulations to Claire and Jimmy who were married in Dorrians Imperial Hotel Ballyshannon Co. Donegal on the 26th of March 2015 surrounded by their families and friends. It was a first for me on the 26th of March in that Claire and Jimmy were having a first look – the first look is the norm in weddings in America but this is the first time I have encountered it in Ireland – the first look is basically the bride and groom meet up in a location before the wedding ceremony actually takes place and they get to spend some time together and have the couple and bridal party photos taken before the ceremony begins. It is actually a very cool idea and I really enjoyed it – we planned to meet at the Abbey Mill in Ballyshannon and myself and Sinead waited along with Jimmy and his best man Peter for Claire and her bridesmaids Fiona and Kerri to arrive. We didn’t have long to wait for Claire to arrive and Jimmy stood anxiously on the path as Claire and her dad made the short walk up to meet him. After the first look we got some photos along the banks of the Abbey river and also on the abbey bridge and beside the water wheel before making our way to Kildoney point for a few photos. The wind was strong and it was hard to even stand on the exposed coastline but we braved a few minutes and were rewarded with some spectacular wedding photos with some lovely angry Irish skies. After just a few minutes on the shore we jumped back in the cars and made our way back to Ballyshannon to Dorrians Imperial Hotel for the wedding ceremony. Madeline Callahan was the celebrant and it was a really lovely ceremony with the whole congregation getting in on the singing helping Farrah Bogle who as always provided beautiful songs and music. After the ceremony we got some family photos done and then everyone made their way up to the Thatch pub for some creamy pints and a bit of Craic as the Hotel got ready for the reception. The Thatch pub is such an iconic venue in Ballyshannon and it draws the tourists from near and far to it’s old world charm and friendly staff and delicious pints! Having the photos already done early in the day meant that we could relax and get some fun and candid photos for the remainder of the evening without watching the clock as we do at more traditional weddings. I would like to take this opportunity to wish Claire and Jimmy the very best of everything for their future and thank them for having myself and Sinead at their Dorrians Hotel Ballyshannon Wedding.
