New Years Eve Wedding| Sinead and Paddy
New Years Eve Wedding
Congratulations to Sinead and Paddy who were married on the 31st of December in St. Molaise Church in Cliffoney County Sligo followed by a brilliant wedding reception for their families and friends in the Great Northern Hotel in Bundoran County Donegal. New Years eve is always a time of excitement as people prepare for the beginning of a new year and everyone is in a party mood eager to bid farewell to the old year and ring in the new. Now once you add a wedding into that mix the excitement and party vibe goes off the richter scale and everyone is ready to raise the roof. I started my day off with a short trip to Cliffoney across the border in County Sligo to Sinead’s mum and dad’s house. On arrival Sinead and her bridesmaids Aisling, Niamh, Marie- Therese, Siobhan and not forgetting junior bridesmaid Caoimhe were all busy getting their hair and makeup done by the very talented Olivia from Olivia’s Beauty in Bundoran. There was a real buzz of excitement with everyone and thankfully the girls were relaxed with no nerves on show at all. I started off my photography for the day by shooting the details – every wedding is beautiful and I am always amazed by the amount of effort that is put in by every couple to make their special day personal to them and this is achieved by the fine details- well hands down and by a country mile Sinead is top of the table for most effort put into the details for her wedding day. I could have spent a couple of hours on the day taking photos of all the gorgeous pieces that Sinead (and Paddy I’m sure) had placed in the house, Church and hotel. The thing that really stole the show for me was a huge three sided black board that a great artist and friend of mine Barry Sweeney from Ballyshannon had painted with Sinead and Paddy’s names on and some lovely messages – there was a seat in front of it and the wedding guests enjoyed having photos taken with it in the hotel. Sinead had a beautiful Heirloom brooch bouquet designed for her by the very talented Ailin Gallagher from kinlough and Ailin also beautifully decorated the church and hotel with her brilliant flower arches and bouquets- you can check out Ailins Flowers here. The weather on the day was cold, wet and windy oh and some more wind was just thrown in for good measure! When I arrived at the Church to meet Paddy and his groomsmen Christy, Ruairi, Colm and Richie they were all inside as the rain was pelting down and it was impossible to stand outside to have a chat.
On video duty for the day was Mick O’Donovan from GRV Productions – as it was just after Christmas I could see that Mick had been on Santa’s good boy list as he had a shiney new motorised slider from Rhino that looked very cool and the footage I saw Mick shoot with it was incredibleย – you can check out Mick’s brilliant video work here. After the ceremony we got the family photos done inside the church before making our way to Mullaghmore for some bridal party photos. It was a real treat as Sinead’s dad was able to arrange for us to get up to Classiebawn Castle for our wedding photos. The castle sits on top of Mullaghmore head and has amazing views across Donegal bay. The only problem was the wind – it was so strong I had to move my car to the sheltered side of the castle as it was impossible to open the door facing into the gale! Sinead and Paddy were determined not to let a small thing like a gale force 10 wind to get in the way and they braved the conditions to get some amazing photos in beautiful winter light and a very dramatic sky.
After we managed to get back to the safety of the cars we made our way to the wedding reception in the Great Northern Hotel in Bundoran. Karen and her team had the hotel looking top class and the heat inside was just what we needed to thaw out from the conditions in Mullaghmore. The guests had plenty of entertainment when the speeches commenced and the blackjack tables proved a huge hit with everyone eager to test their luck. The evenings entertainment was provided by a fantastic band call Late Nite Radio Band and they kept the dancefloor filled from the moment they took to the stage. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Sinead and Paddy for having me be part of their beautiful New Years Eve Wedding and I would like to wish them the very best of everything for the future, below are some of the photos from Sinead and Paddy’sย New Years Eve Wedding…….enjoy…….
