Donegal Wedding Photography Amy + Eric

Donegal Wedding Photography

Congratulations to Amy and Eric who were married on the 28th of May 2016 in Deep Creek, Maryland. I unfortunately was not there on the wedding day but received an email from Amy saying that herself and Eric would be on honeymoon in Ireland in July and would be staying in a cottage at Creevy Pier and they would be interested in getting some photos taken around the beautiful Donegal coastline. ย I absolutely love doing a cherish the dress shoot (it takes place after the wedding and we can go to any locations and take as much time as we need to get amazing photos) and was only delighted to organise a date with Amy for the shoot. I met Amy and Eric at Creevy Pier and we travelled to the ruins of the old Church on the Rossnowlagh road before making our way to Rossnowlagh beach. It was a cool and windy day on the 5th of July but Amy and Eric smiled throughout and didn’t let the Irish weather get in the way of their love for the Irish landscape. From there we made our way down to Murvagh beach and we used the beautiful sand dunes for some photos before crossing the road to the wild meadows and forest. There is a huge sea of Ferns at Murvagh and as Amy is a brave soul she ha no problem wading into the middle of them when I suggested it would make for an amazing photo – you can see for yourself below that it was well worth it. After the shoot in Murvagh we made our way back to Creevy pier and Amy and Eric were getting ready for the trip to Belfast and to go on the Game of Thrones tour of the Dark Hedges (hope ye enjoyed it guys?). I would like to wish Amy and Eric the very best of everything in life and hopefully we will see ye back in Ireland in the near future. Below is a little backstory on how Amy and Eric met andย a little bit about this wonderful couple….enjoy…

Amy and Eric met at a funeral-themed birthday party in 2011. Their mutual friend encouraged people to come in funeral garb to lament the passing of his wife’s youth. Unfortunately for Eric, Amy wasn’t available. Later, when she was single, Amy would inquire about that cute math teacher from the party and would learn he was off the market.ย

It took 3 years –ย ย but finally both were single and their mutual friend and groomsman, Phil Spencer, reconnected them. Their first date was a brunch date that lasted 8 hours… The spark they felt the first night they met was still there. They’ve built a loving relationship where they serve to balance out the other. Eric keeps Amy grounded and she pulls him out into the world.ย

Eric is from the Syracuse area in upstate New York and Amy hails from the greatest state on earth, Ohio. Both are professional do-gooders.ย Eric teaches middle school math at a highly diverse school in Annandale, Virginia while Amy is a community organizer for a local non-profit.ย

Both are serious dog lovers, enjoy cooking delicious meals together, playing mildly competitive tennis and cheering on their respective college teams – CUSE and OH.

They were married on May 28th, 2016 in Deep Creek, Maryland at a farm. They said their vows in front of 150 friends and family under a flower-filled gazebo overlooking a pond and enjoyed live music provided by their talented musician friends. They danced the night away and ended it around a bonfire singing songs and eating s’mores.

Amy travelled to Ireland in 2012 for a month and fell in love with Eire. She wanted to share it with her “bunny”, Eric, and so they came here to Donegal for their honeymoon. Eric sees why she was so enchanted by this country- it’s one of the most stunning and magical places on earth.
