Castle Dargan Hotel Summer Wedding

Congratulations to Nicola and Ben who were married in a beautiful wedding ceremony in St Patrick’s Church Dromahair Co. Leitrim followed by a fantastic Castle Dargan Hotel Summer Wedding reception for their families and friends.

The morning of the 6th of August was a mixed bag really with some wind and rain mixed in with some sunshine and blue sky but no matter what the weather was going to throw at us I knew that Nicola and Ben would take it all in their stride and happiness always wins the day.

I started off my wedding photography coverage with a trip to Sligo to Nicola’s home house where Nicola and her bridesmaids Sinead, Ciara and Jen were getting ready. On arrival the girls were busy getting hair and makeup done and this was being expertly handled Gemma Crossan and by Niamh Mc Morrow who also happens to be Nicola’s sister in law – you can check out Niamh’s fabulous work on her Facebook page Beauty On Your Doorstep By Niamh here.

After we got the details and candid photos done we got some family photos before making our way to St Patrick’s Church in Dromahair for the wedding ceremony. On arrival at the church we met up with Ben and his groomsmen and brothers Daniel and Matthew who were all busy meeting and greeting the arriving guests. On video duty for the day was Niall from Complete Weddings who is also based in Leitrim. Niall shoots a cinematic style and his work is fantastic and is a pleasure to work alongside- it speaks volumes that of all the photos I took throughout the day Niall didn’t appear in any of them and hopefully I managed to keep my head out of the video too!

After the ceremony was concluded and the family photos were done we made a quick stop off to the river that runs behind the Church for some photos with the bridal party. The tree cover gave us some shelter in case the rain showed up and the whole walk is a stunning location for wedding photos. After we left Dromahair we made our way to Lough for some quick portraits with just Nicola and Ben and from there we made our way towards Castle Dargan hotel for the wedding reception.

Castle Dargan hotel was decorated to perfection and as always the ballroom looked amazing and the showstopper was definitely the amazing wedding cake from Catherine at Park Lane Cakes also from here in Kinlough. The cake and cupcakes looked so so good and I had to summon up all my will power not to sample each and every one of them! As the guests were being seated for the meal I got a few relaxed shots with Nicola and Ben at the old house which has a beautiful staircase and lots of character for wedding photos.

With the meal and speeches completed the sun began to set and a great advantage of a Castle Dargan Hotel Summer Wedding is there is plenty of vistas of the skyo no matter where the sun is setting you can use the sky to great effect. Nicola and Ben jumped at the chance for some sunset wedding photos and in a few steps we were on the rough of the golf course getting some amazing photos with beautiful evening light. The band had set up in great time and Nicola and Ben enjoyed a beautiful first dance before the bridal party and guests joined them on the dancefloor for the rest of the evening. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Nicola and Ben for having me be part of their very special Castle Dargan Hotel Summer Wedding and wish them the very best of everything for the future.
