Maria and Mark’s Killybegs Wedding

Maria and Mark’s Beautiful Killybegs Wedding

Congratulations to Maria and Mark who were married in a beautiful Killybegs wedding ceremony in St Mary’s Church on the 15th of June 2019 followed by a fantastic wedding reception for their families and friends in the Mill Park Hotel in Donegal town. Saturday the 15th of June was one of those rare Irish summer days when the sun actually shone in the sky and there was a real heat in the breeze and you could actually make a conscious decision to leave your coat at home- bliss!

I started my day off with a trip to St Cummins hill in Killybegs where Maria and her bridesmaids Laura and Mary were busy getting their hair and makeup done. The girls were in great spirits and very relaxed and the house was filled with smiles and laughter and they looked amazing in their dresses supplied by Pearls and Lace in Donegal town. On videography duty for the day was James Carr from JC Media and as always it was a pleasure working alongside James and having wedding suppliers who can work seamlessly together is so important for a wedding day and you can check out some cinematic videos from James on his website here.

The wedding ceremony was being held in the beautiful St Mary of the visitation church in Killybegs and it is definitely my favorite church for weddings- the colours and lighting are just made for photography and the highly reflective floor is fantastic for reflection shots. On arrival at the church I met up with Mark and his groomsmen Darragh and Bryan who were meeting the arriving guests and enjoying the afternoon sun. The church decor looked fantastic and was decorated by Shirley from Loveblooms in Killybegs who also did Maria’s beautiful bouquet. The music for the wedding ceremony was amazing and was expertly done by Dean Connaghan.

After the ceremony the guests had a chance to have a chat and an ice-cream as the sun shone brightly and after some family photos we made our way to the pier down at Portnacross for some bridal party photos. The pier is nice but the big boulders are better so I coaxed Maria and Mark to go out to the edge for some photos and thankfully they are an adventurous couple and had no problem negotiating the rocks and allowing me to capture some amazing photos which was helped by the wind playfully blowing Maria’s veil around.ย  After we left Portnacross we made our way to a beautiful view point with Fintra beach as our backdrop- there are so many amazing locations all around Donegal and especially for this Killybegs Wedding.

After we finished up with the photos we made our way back to the Mill Park Hotel in Donegal town for the wedding reception. As always we received a warm welcome from Mary and Jim and their team and Maria and Mark had plenty of time to enjoy some drinks and a chat with their guests before being called in for dinner. The band for the evenings entertainment was the brilliant Beefstake Dancers from Ballybofey and they had the dance-floor filled from the start. I would like to thank Maria and Mark for having me as part of their special day and wish them the very best for their future, below are some photos from their beautiful Killybegs wedding…enjoy…..
