Martinstown House Wedding Lydia + Jonathan
Martinstown House Wedding
Congratulations to Lydia and Jonathan who were married in a beautiful Martinstown House Wedding in the Curragh Co. Kildare on the 20th of July 2019. I started my day off with a long drive up to the Curragh in Co. Kildare to the beautiful setting of Martinstown house. With the ceremony and reception taking place in the grounds of Martinstown house it meant that once I parked the car up I was free from it for the remainder of the day which was great. Martinstown house is situated in the Curragh in Co. Kildare and it is a truly magnificent setting for a wedding- the period house with it’s original features and antique furniture are a wedding photographers dream and then you have a beautiful area for the wedding ceremony that is covered over but also open to the elements so a real indoors/outdoors experience and of course the wedding meal takes place in the marquee which was decorated beautifully with lots of seating and relaxing areas for the guests.
Lydia and her bridesmaids Michelle, Tara, Liz and Rosie were all busy in hair and makeup when I arrived and they were enjoying some glasses of bubbly and some laughs while the girls from One Dame Lane and Hair by Leo worked away. Jonathan and his groomsmen Christopher, Shane, Christopher and Darragh were also getting ready in the house but managed to stay in a different wing to the girls so their paths did not cross.
As the guests began to arrive there were lot’s of conversations on how stunning the location was and everyone seemed to be looking forward to the day’s unfolding events. The weather was warm and it was great to see everyone enjoy a chat and a drink on the lawn in front of the house before the ceremony. The ceremony itself was fantastic and very personal to Lydia and Jonathan and it was made all the more special with some fantastic music from six very talented musicians- three of whom are pupils of Lydia’s – Sadhbh Nic Ártain, Anna McCarthy, and Ailish McCarthy and three musician friends of Lydia – Ursula McAdam, Emmet Mulholland, and Robert Harvey who played throughout the ceremony and also a set after the meal.
The grounds of Martinstown House are fantastic with a secret garden and many stone walls and areas that look fantastic in wedding photos dotted around the extensive grounds and we made the most of the beautiful locations for the family photos and the couple photos with Lydia and Jonathan. The speeches were held in front of the House with the guests gathered around on the log seating enjoying a beer while the bridal party entertained them with some stories about Jonathan and Lydia. After the speeches the guests retired to the marquee for the wedding meal and relaxed there while The Tru Tones set up for the evenings entertainment. Once the boy’s got the music underway they had the floor filled from the off and as I made my way back to the car for the drive home I was sure the party would go on long into the early hours.
I would like to wish Lydia and Jonathan the very best for their future and thank them for having me as part of their beautiful Martinstown House Wedding, below are some photos from their amazing day…enjoy….
